Scammings…

Scam emails. They pop up with monotonous regularity and are usually easily spotted because they look something like this:

Dear Admin In view of our annual family tour/and vacation,I am writing you to notify you that we wish to make use of your facility for accomodation during our summer holidays. 3 room are Needed Date of Arrival 29th of June 2011 Departure 20th of July 2011 Number of Guests are 6 persons. You are then advised to come up with the grand total price for the whole days. Waiting for your reply. Regards RICHARD BANVARD 393 Wilmslow Road, Withington, Manchester, M20 4WA, United Kingdom

Does that look ever so slightly fishy to you? Well, normally I’d delete it without a second thought, but it was a quiet night, I was curious and there was a UK address…

Well, here’s 393 Wilmslow Road, Withington, Manchester M20 4WA. It’s an… er budget hotel so if Mr Banvard is staying there he’s fallen on hard times. I think he can go and join the newly ordained priests from Greece in my junk mail folder.

  1. That’s funny. He wants to book our Guesthouse in North Wales as well. Ha Ha, good to see the Greek priests are a nationwide problem as well. One day we will get a genuine Greek priest knock on the door asking for a room……

  2. Well he’s still around:
